| Multiple baselines, configurations, and deliveries coupled with short development schedules and rapid turnaround of changes are just some of today's software development needs that demand strong, effective, and flexible software configuration management. The need to establish Software Configuration Management (SCM) as a process improvement foundation block for the Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model (CMM/CMMI) produces additional challenges for this integral software development and maintenance function.
Since 1984, System Technology Institute has provided industry and government with the fundamentals and guidance for planning, organizing and implementing a support, control and services environment that facilitates Software Configuration Management principles operating in an effective and efficient manner.
Our courses explore SCM techniques that are applicable to the Government, military (DoD Directive 5000.1), and commercial industry sectors (ISO9000, ISO9001, SOX), regardless of project size or complexity. These methods assist organizations and their related Information Management and Technology teams in achieving compliance with CMMI, ISO, OMB Memorandum M-05-23, MIL-HDBK-61A and Sarbanes-Oxley Act Section 404.
STI understands the complexity and breadth of software configuration management and SEI-CMM and CMMI standards. Accordingly our courses provides participants with practical, comprehensive guidance for implementing detailed policies and procedures aimed at achieving a functioning, effective team that supports the best of SCM principles. Our Software Configuration Management Fundamentals (230 SCM) and Practical Implementation of Software Configuration Management (1230 ICM) courses provide a comprehensive training curriculum. Additional courses targeting system lifecycle management, software verification and validation and software quality assurance are also available.

| STI offers extensive topics covering Software Configuration Management essentials and advanced concepts. Our SCM curriculum covers SEI-CMM/I, offers Software Configuration Management Certification, and extends into software verification, testing, compliance management and numerous standards (including courses in ISO/IEC and IEEE/EIA 12207, ISO/IEC 15288, ISO 9000).
STI is delighted to announce presentations of our complete curriculum on Software Configuration Management (230 SCM and 1230 ICM) in Bangalore and Mumbai, India. See our course schedule for details!
ISO/IEC 12207 is the first international standard on software. The standard is intended to be employed to acquire, supply, develop, operate, and maintain software. In addition, the standard may be applied to software management, improvement, and training. Dr. Raghu Singh, involved as a participant and a leader in advancing software management and engineering in the US DoD, NATO, and defense industries and at the National and International arenas for many years, presents our Software Life Cycle Processes with ISO/IEC 12207 course.
In a typical programming project, approximately 50% of elapsed time and over 50% of total cost are expended in testing the programs and systems. Although testing will consume half of a programmers professional life, less that 5% of the programmers education will be devoted to learning about good testing skills and techniques. Our Structured Software Testing course discusses effective and practical approaches to system program testing.
The software industry is embracing yet another change in the way it does business. By placing emphasis on agility rather than undue rigor, programming organizations are making the move to agile methods. Introduction to Agile and the Rational Unified Process gives you a solid foundation in today's changing best practices.

SCM Certification
System Technology Institute offers Software Configuration Management Certification through our 230 SCM and 1230 ICM curriculum.
STI has a strong reputation as a provider of tailored training. Our track record includes leading government and industry organizations:
One of STI's major activities includes the creation of a training program for NASA as part of its Software Management and Assurance initiative. The curriculum is comprised of fourteen two- to five-day courses on various aspects of software engineering, management and assurance. Over two hundred of these training courses have been held to-date, providing training for more than 3,500 NASA and contractor managers and engineers.
STI has been involved with the Department of Defense Software Engineering Institute (SEI) since 1989 and has been contracted by the SEI to assist with several Red and Blue Team reviews. We have also assisted in software process assessments based on the SEI's Capability Maturity Model (CMM-SW). Our courses have proven effective in exceeding the demands of CMM and CMMI. STI also partnered with the SEI in developing a training program on software system acquisition for the U.S. Navy.
